A presentation by Dr. J. Luke Wood, coordinator and professor of the Black Minds Matter course, who has emerged as a leading advocate for Black students at the community college level.

He will discuss how the class came to be, push-back experienced, and current research on the topic of Black student achievement in school.

This presentation will be followed by presentations from African American doctoral students who participated in the class and developed policy and practice memos.

This event is part of Black History Month at Grossmont College, and is sponsored by the World Arts and Cultures Committee, the ECS-Umoja Program and Student Affairs. This event is free and open to the public.
