Time and time again, it can be pointed out that San Diego's County weather is conducive to allow a one or two street wide pathways/sidewalks of a free motorized zone. Which could stretch thru much of the city of San Diego. Skateboard travelling will be the new norm if given the opportunity to travel inside a climate-free zone.
Picture a path where Segways. golf carts, electric bikes and hover-boards are on one side of a separated wall while on the other side is the area bicycles, skateboards, pedicabs, scooters, walkers, and runners take the to travel. All could be monitored by governing bodies no different than policing the highways. Bike cops are now more trained than ever. Here in California, it may be necessary to seek options of reducing fueled motor-vehicle travel all together. These at the goals ... Alternative Transportation Awareness striving to amend the laws.
Pedi-Action Games was developed to help increase this awareness. We the people have always valued our hands and feet with the utmost respect. Walking/running is the original form of transportation. So, think how much money a person saves for riding a bike? For walking or skateboarding? Legislation depicts bikes and cars as the same when recording statistics with the California Highway Patrol. It is more likely to be hit walking in a crosswalk than not. But did the fatality occur from a bicycle?
