Back by popular demand, Black Violin, a string duo from Florida, combines both the classical and hip-hop traditions to bring two musical worlds together. Wil Baptiste (viola) and Kev Marcus (violin) are two classically-trained musicians, deeply entwined with the hip-hop generation. This perfect fusion of music sensibilities defined their distinctive style.
Named one of the hottest bands at SXSW in 2013, Black Violin was invited to perform at Bonnaroo and returned to SXSW this year to SRO crowds. They have played their music for the troops in Iraq. Individually and together, Black Violin has collaborated with the likes of P. Diddy, Kanye West, 50 Cent, Tom Petty, Aerosmith, Aretha Franklin and The Eagles.
