Poets Speak Out on the strength and resilience of Black women. Students and community members can share poetry and spoken word regarding experiences of being Black in America.
KALIFIA San Diego will be hosting a reoccurring fashion show, live photoshoot and networking mixer in Downtown. Our goal is to get our models seen by model agency representatives as well as local photographers. This event is for YOU. The aspiring model. The published model. The plus size model. The petite model. We are gathering resources for YOU to begin your modeling career.
Our first show will be inspired by the new film “Queen & Slim”. The theme for each event will be inspired by a popular black film, show or music video. For example, one week we might have the fashion show based on the series “Insecure”, the next week Beyoncé’s Lemonade and after that, maybe Harlem Nights. We currently have a list of over 30 themes, however we are still accepting suggestions.
Following the fashion show, there will be photographers working on a live photoshoot & headshots. MODELS, please bring your portfolio/comp cards. Be prepared to not only speak with representatives from model agencies, but also from media (radio, podcast, etc). There will be interviews, so please show up camera ready!
