How are you supporting Girls of Color? Join us to share your knowledge and get involved in the All About Girls of Color Initiative!
As a community leader and major stakeholder invested in the well-being of Girls of Color – please accept this invitation to join us as we host our first Community Conversation with a group of individuals doing amazing work within their sector to move the needle towards positive outcomes for Girls of Color.
Our goal through facilitating a “community conversation” with key stakeholders who are passionate about the well-being of Girls Of Color – youth, parents, educators, nonprofit service providers, community partners, and employers – is to solicit your input on what is working well, what is not working, to identify unfulfilled needs, and to think creatively about new opportunities for programming, partnership and collaboration.
This event will be hosted by:
Tinesia Conwright, Founder & Executive Director, DETOUR/FANCY Teen Girls Expo & Leadership Academy (www.detourempowers.org)
All About Girls of Color Initiative
The All About Girls of Color Initiative unites individuals passionate about youth equity and inclusion to reduce the exclusionary practices and marginalization of girls of color by providing training on current trends impacting them and evidence-based practices for supporting and engaging girls of color around these trends.
Somali Family Service seeks to empower girls, especially within San Diego’s immigrant and refugee communities, by providing them with the ability to defend themselves against attacks. In light of San Diego’s alarming human trafficking issues and hate crimes targeting girls and women who identify as Muslim, this culturally-inclusive training considers real-life scenarios and offers valuable insight and resource information. Refreshments provided.
Black Women Speak” is a monthly circle where Black women lend their voices to various issues ranging from colonization to the significance of our hair. This circle was designed as a safe space for Black women to build fellowship and to create a community of people interested in stimulating conversation. Furthermore, it serves as a place where voices often silenced can be heard and validated.
