WorldBeat Cultural Center will be celebrating its 41st Annual Celebration with 5 of the 7 days of Kwanzaa. Kwanzaa is an African American Holiday celebrated from the 26th of December to the 1st of January. This year, December 26th, marks the 53st anniversary of
the Kwanzaa holiday (1996-2016) created by Dr. Maulana Kaulana Karenga to celebrate and reaffirm family, community, and culture.

Each Day will feature Ceremonial candle lighting and libation with live Drumming Kwanzaa.

Poetry reading by Johnnierenee Nia Nelson, Karamu – the traditional feast ( Free vegetarian African American soul food),
“Kwanzaa Celebration Exhibition” will remain open for tours.

Children’s Kwanzaa Celebration @ Malcolm X Library

This pandemic has been hard on our young people, and we want to honor and provide a space for them to have fun. Join us while we celebrate community with family and friends in the creative spirit of Nia, which means purpose in Kishwahili. There will be arts & crafts, free books and activities as well as a movie screening of the popular movie “The Black Candle” We are also encouraging youth to sign up for library cards and those who do will receive a free gift
Light snacks will be served, this is a family all ages event!
