Miki Vale creates a unique soundscape in her songwriting: one part Hip Hop, one part old soul, two parts evolved artist and revolutionary MC. Her melodic flow illustrates a mental picture with each line and breathes new life into Hip Hop as we know it. Miki met fellow artist Blest, a founder of Sleeping Giant Music (SGM), and soon joined the SGM family. In 2004, SGM released a compilation album featuring a roster of underground Hip Hop talent. The album, entitled “The Awakening”, features Miki Vale’s smooth, buttery vocal stylings on several stand-out tracks. Miki later released a collaboration with Oxnard’s most elusive crate-digger, Kankick, entitled “Yes Yes (Suite 3)”, a 7” single on Ramp Recordings. In 2007, Miki was selected by the editors of Billboard Magazine from over 3000 artists as one of six finalists to perform at the Disc Maker’s Independent Music World Series Showcase. She was also nominated for a San Diego Music Award for Best Hip Hop Artist and Best Hip Hop Album.
Miki Vale has earned her stripes and due praises by opening for such notable artists as Slick Rick, Mos Def, Bahamadia, Loot Pack, Declaime, Too $hort, Living Legends, Souls of Mischief, The Roots, DJ Quik, Young MC, and more. She continues to make her mark on the music industry with her soulful and powerful lyrics and musicality.
