Flexin’ My Expression was created as a way for students in the UC San Diego community to have a platform to express themselves, destress from the UC San Diego environment, witness the talent of their peers, and connect to the Greater San Diego Poetry Community. It was started November 21, 2015 by Kyler Nathan and Cambria Anderson, two interns at UC San Diego’s Black Resource Center and will be carried on by Jzov Stith Gambles, a current intern at the Black Resource Center, and Aliaya White.

We are excited to announce the fifth installment of Flexin’ My Expression!

Black History Month panel discussion with elected officials in SD to discuss ways to serve the community and improve the lives of children.
About this Event
Jack and Jill Incorporated of San Diego is holding a community forum during Black History month entitled Black Excellence in Public Service: Serving and Protecting our Children. The panel discussion will be moderated by our very own San Diego Chapter President, Pamela Gray Payton and will provide space for a conversation from a diverse panel about the different ways one can serve their community and improve the lives of our children. Times are very different now for this generation of children so join in on the discussion that’s sure to empower us all.

There will also be time reserved for Q&A from the audience. Confirmed panelists include San Diego City Councilmember Monica Montgomery, La Mesa City Councilmember Dr. Akilah Weber, and other community leaders in the San Diego region. See the the attached flyer for full list of panelists.

Please be advised that space is limited. Entrance will be on a first come first served basis.

Potential Performers, please sign-up on the Sign-In “PERFORMER’S LIST” before 7:00 pm. Each performer will have 10-12 minutes to perform….depending on how many performers we have for the night. Please bring other family members, friends, and co-workers with you. They can perform, or be our audience. Suggested donation is $5.00 per person. However, we appreciate any and all donations.
