Got Plans 2017? Career and College Fair – Find your Future! @ Grossmont College

Grossmont College will be hosting the East County Education Alliance’s fourteenth annual Got Plans? Career & College Fair for all high school students and parents. High School students and parents can chat with admissions representatives from more than 90 public and private universities, community colleges, vocational schools, and the military.

The event is free and includes a variety of workshops including information on four-year universities, two-year colleges, assistance with college applications, financial aid, NCAA, SAT/ACT tests and more! Some sessions will be offered in Spanish and Arabic.

All high school students and their parents are invited to attend! Parking is free.

As the job market is becoming increasingly competitive, local non-profit creates a solution for students and professional to get their foot in the door. The Western Regional Diversity Conference 2017, appropriately nicknamed The Diversity Conference or WRDC is a 2-day conference that highlights workplace diversity and inclusion. With expectations of over 500 attendees, WRDC has constructed an impressive agenda that includes an experiential case study competition, business pitch competition, over 30 panels and workshops, networking parties, and a tech exhibit and career fair utilizing Bluetooth Beacons for a more interactive experience.

Through October 26th-27th, WRDC has invited college students and professionals throughout California, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, Washington, Oregon & Colorado to attend this event. Hosted at the beautiful California Center for the Arts in the Greater San Diego Area, attendees will have the opportunity to network with investors, government and corporate contractors, fortune 500 companies and small business, student and professional associations, and other groups who believe that diversity and inclusion are key to building sustainable communities.

“I wanted to build an event that attendees can walk away from and become inspired and motivated,” says project director Elizabeth Cotton. “People’s’ differences can be seen as an advantage, whether they are climbing corporate America or striving to be an entrepreneur.”

This year WRDC will focus on three tracks that include Diversity in Tech, Entertainment, and Entrepreneurship. WRDC has secured over 50 inspirational guest speakers including John Cabeca, the Director of the US Patent & Trademark Office for Silicon Valley, Ashok Kamal, the Executive Director for Tech Coast Angels, Jace Hall, the Co-Owner of E-Sports Powerhouse Team Echo Fox, and Frankie Ingrassia, Actress and Pit Producer for Coachella, just to name a few!

Resilience Conference – An answer to address Community Trauma @ Valencia Park/Malcolm X Library

Please join us in viewing “Resilience: The Biology of Stress & The Science of Hope” (A TUGG Film) then participate in the conversation as we analyze the affects that trauma has on our youth’s resilience and how it effects our community.

The daily trauma on our children and adults experience effects our health, learning ability, and safety. Come hear about Community Trauma and how WE can address it.
