Join us as we honor outstanding African Americans in Aviation and Space as well as fundraising to support the Leadership and Scholarship Award Program benefiting deserving African American Students in San Diego County. This year our honoree will be Ms. Thella F. Bowens, past President/CEO of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority. After 15 years of leadership, Ms. Bowens retired on March 31, 2017.

The 2nd Annual San Diego Black Unity Holiday Soiree takes place on the Ninth of December where we will provide the opportunity for you to network and celebrate with other Black Organizations and Entrepreneurs during this holiday season.
The purpose is to socialize with each other so when we begin working for our community,

The night begins with a Cocktail hour at 6:00PM. It continues with a 3-Course World Class dinner with live artists. Idea sharing, music and dancing will follow.

The infamous Funk Soul Social returns with a very special edition that is sure to revive those old school feels featuring Rap legend Sir Mix-A-Lot known for hits like “Baby Got Back,” “Posse’ on Broadway” and many others. The night also welcomes the Funk and Soul vibes of special guests Kim Jackson and The Routine Players and Hip-Hop R&B sounds of The Lyrical Groove.

Sir Mix-A-Lot (sirmixalot) parlayed a gonzo tribute to women with large buttocks into hip-hop immortality. But even before he struck crossover gold, he was one of rap’s great D.I.Y. success stories. The Grammy award-winning emcee co-founded his own record label, promoted his music himself, produced all his own tracks, and essentially pulled himself up by the proverbial American bootstraps. Even before “Baby Got Back,” Mix-A-Lot was a platinum-selling album artist with a strong following in the hip-hop community, known for bouncy, danceable, bass-heavy tracks indebted to old school electro.
An acclaimed wizard on the soprano sax, national recording artist Dee Lucas ft San Diego star performer Rebecca Jade. Dee Lucas has been steadily growing his brand and base beginning with Remembrance in 2004, a tribute to the late legend George Howard. Continuing steady showcase of style and technique with his sophomore release Something to Ride 2, 2010’s Standing Room Only, and the 2012’s compilation of the Rebirth of the Smooth. He released The Smooth Factor in 2014 which was a refreshing interjection into the competitive genre of smooth jazz. Now with his brand new CD Going Deeper, the journey continues.
