This interactive event is for the adult program leaders and community stakeholders of STEM/STEAM camps in San Diego to come together and collaborate on a strategy to increase the number of children interested in pursuing careers in STEAM, especially people of color.
You can expect presentations, workshops, break out sessions and networking with industry leaders.
It’s a Holiday Soiree Experience!
The 2nd Annual San Diego Black Unity Holiday Soiree takes place on the Ninth of December where we will provide the opportunity for you to network and celebrate with other Black Organizations and Entrepreneurs during this holiday season.
The purpose is to socialize with each other so when we begin working for our community,
we can Get To Business!
The night begins with a Cocktail hour at 6:00PM. It continues with a 3-Course World Class dinner with live artists. Idea sharing, music and dancing will follow.

The proceeds will be donated to continuing education for the black community in
Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM).
Lauren Henderson is a jazz, Latin jazz, soul and fusion vocalist. A recording artist and composer from Massachusetts, Henderson’s Caribbean and Latin Heritage are central themes in her original music.
Currently based in both Miami and New York, Lauren performs standards and original music. She has appeared at the Blue Note, Birdland, Joe’s Pub, Casa del Jazz (Italia), Regattabar, WGBH, and various national and international venues. Henderson has toured the United States, Russia, Italy, Spain, Mexico and various countries.
Her original music was recently featured in The Drowning, directed by Bette Gordon and starring Julia Stiles, Avan Jogia, Josh Charles, Tracie Thoms and an outstanding cast.
Riptide (10.20.2017), Henderson’s third release, features Steinway Artist and Grammy-Nominated Pianist, Chris Pattishall, Nick Tannura (guitar), Eric England (bass), and the incredible, Joe Saylor (drums and percussion) of Steven Colbert’s ‘The Tonight Show’! The six compositions are a pleasing mix of jazz, Latin, soul and funk!
Lauren’s eclectic vocal influences spread across genres. Her Afro-Latin influence aids her in producing a distinct yet versatile sound. Lauren’s diverse musical background is rooted in jazz and has been influenced by artists like Shirley Horn, Nancy Wilson, Anita O’Day, Chris Connor, Julie London, Sarah Vaughan, Astrud Gilberto, Omara Portuondo, and many others.
In 2018, Henderson plans to release an album under the direction of Grammy-Nominated Producer and Emmy-Winner, Mark Ruffin! This album will feature Terri Lyne Carrington, Josh Evans, Godwin Louis, Sullivan Fortner, Eric Wheeler, Nick Tannura, Nanny Assis, and Joe Saylor. Stay tuned…
